Tennessee is a leading solar state and many people nationwide have no idea. Each local solar installation company has been steadily increasing their business, but this 5-megawatt farm is an opportunity to reach out to our community. Such a grand undertaking by the State and the Univeristy of Tennesee, helps solidify that solar power is real, it is here in Tennessee, and it is part of a larger solution in the battle against climate change. Speaking for Sustainable Future, I can say how satisfying…

In an effort to expand there renewable energy portfolio, TVA has bought enough wind energy to sustain 140,000 homes. The power should be available by 2012. At this point, TVA gets a majority of it's power from coal and nuclear plants. The more demand for wind and solar we can place on TVA, we more they will be required to buy renewable energy.
Remember, there is no such thing as clean coal and no "safe" nuclear option. Substituting for these two sources will be a difficult uphill battle that mu…

The U.S. Department of Energy awarded $2.4 billion in stimulus money in August to build electric vehicles and support them with charging stations. The goal is to promote clean energy and reduce U.S. dependence on oil, says David Sandalow, assistant secretary of Energy for policy and international affairs.
The largest of 48 approved projects - out of 250 proposals for stimulus grants- is with Arizona-based Electric Transportation Engineering Corp. (eTec), which signed a $99.8 million contract wi…

I have completed the P V class, and I am experienced in residential/commercial building trades including steel fabrication; as a trim carpenter I have built door and window frames on a site as well as cabinetry. My interest in solar energy has increased recently due to the need for everyone to recognize the value of the sun as a free power source. We really need to live GREEN.
